Features: This book is one of the series textbooks for the Chinese Language and Literature Education program of normal college level, compiled by the National Normal College Higher Vocational College Liberal Arts Textbook Compilation Committee. The writing aim is to ensure scientificity, practicality, and timeliness, and it has strong characteristics of normal college level. The book is divided into two volumes. The first volume covers General Introduction to Ancient Chinese, which explains ancient Chinese knowledge such as characters, vocabulary, grammar, rhetoric, phonology, and ancient cultural common knowledge in chapters. The features of this book are: at the end of each chapter, a special section is set to explain the application of the chapter knowledge in middle school classical Chinese teaching; at the end of this volume, a special chapter is set to explain the comprehensive application of ancient Chinese; grammar is downplayed, only focusing on the main grammatical phenomena different from modern Chinese grammar; the classical Chinese examples cited in the text are basically from middle school Chinese textbooks and the "Selected Readings" in the second volume of this book. After each section, "Thinking and Exercises" are provided to facilitate the assessment of learning outcomes.
