Features: The Four Masters of Early Tang were poets who bridged the past and the future in the history of Chinese poetry development. They opposed the ornate literary style of the Six Dynasties and inherited the artistic techniques of the preceding era, breaking through the confines of court poetry in terms of themes and content. Their innovation and creativity paved the way for the healthy development of Tang poetry. Annotations on the poems of the Four Masters of Early Tang are scarce, with only Chen Xijin's Commentary on Luo Linhai's Collected Works and Jiang Qingyi's Annotations on the Collected Works of the Five Sons from the Qing Dynasty. In modern times, they are scattered in a few annotations, and in very limited numbers. This book selects 265 poems, accounting for three-quarters of the extant poems of the Four Masters of Early Tang, with 88 by Wang Bo, 30 by Yang Jiong, 82 by Lu Zhaolin, and 65 by Luo Binwang. Arranged in the order of Wang, Yang, Lu, and Luo, and following the sequence of the Four Masters' poems in Complete Tang Poems, they are organized and compiled.
