A report by the BBC caused panic, stating that on February 1, 2019, a small asteroid, named "2002BNT7," which was two kilometers wide, might collide with Earth. Compared to the previous two, this one was no mercy. The geological crater in Manson, Iowa, with a diameter of 5 kilometers, was not caused by Earth's internal factors but by an extraterrestrial object from at least 160 million kilometers away. In a distant period of the past, when Manson was still located on the shore of a shallow sea, a rock about 2.5 kilometers wide, weighing 1 billion tons, and possibly flying at 200 times the speed of sound, passed through the atmosphere, "bang," hit there. Earth is often ambushed. In historical records of the last century, there were at least two incidents where small asteroids "ambushed" Earth with no prior notice. On June 30, 1908, at 7:17 a.m., a small asteroid with a diameter of only 60 meters exploded 8 kilometers above Tunguska in Siberia, Russia. The powerful shockwave and high temperatures destroyed 2,000 square kilometers of forest. On August 10, 1972, a small asteroid with a diameter of 10 meters flew over the western part of Canada in California, with many witnesses hearing the rumbling sound it made from an altitude of 58 kilometers. The U.S. space infrared detector recorded this event. The challenges faced by humanity are far from over. When people face these challenges and responsibilities, they have always shown a heroic spirit of never retreating.
