In addition to analyzing bilateral relations between countries, the book also explores multilateral relations in East Asian economic development. These articles are largely presented as they were originally written to preserve the author's insights and perspectives at the time.
Author Bio: Lin Huasheng: Born in Malaysia, he studied in Japan after graduating from high school and obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Hitotsubashi University in Japan. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of London in 1980. He has worked in research and teaching at institutions such as the National University of Singapore's Institute of Southeast Asian Studies and the National University of Singapore. Currently, he serves as a Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Deputy Director at the Institute of Advanced Studies on Asia, Waseda University, Japan. He is also the Chairman of the International Exchange Committee and the Director of the Institute of Chinese Economy at Waseda University. His main research areas include the Japanese economy, Asian economy, and the economy of Chinese overseas communities. His major works include The Earthquake of ASEAN Economy, The Four Poles Economy in Asia, Japan's Role in Asia, Japan's Role in ASEAN, and Japan's Role in Asia.
