Features: This textbook is designed to meet the continuous development needs of China's tourism industry, particularly the hotel industry, aiming to improve the English communication skills of students and professionals in this field. It strives to cultivate business-savvy, English-fluent, and well-rounded hotel service and management talents in the new era. The writing of Hotel English follows the principles of communicative teaching, focusing on developing and enhancing students' conversational abilities and language application skills. The book is divided into four parts: Front Office Service, Customer Service, Food & Beverage Service, and Recreation & Conference Service. Each part consists of several units, making a total of twenty-five units in the book. Each unit is roughly divided into three parts: "Key Sentences," "Scenario Dialogues," and "Practice Exercises."
"Key Sentences" condense the most common and useful sentences in this unit. By mastering these sentences, students can grasp the basic service phrases, enabling them to communicate in English with foreign guests in actual work situations and provide them with service. "Scenario Dialogues" include two or three dialogue segments, along with vocabulary, notes, and questions related to the dialogues. The selected dialogues are set in work scenarios, with hotel staff and English-speaking foreign guests as the dialogue protagonists, and the topics are closely centered around customer service. To encourage students to practice more, a "Practice Exercises" section is arranged. Each unit is designed with a variety of exercises, including vocabulary drills, listening comprehension, role-playing, Chinese-English translation, and reading sections. Through diligent practice, students can further consolidate their knowledge and progressively improve their overall language proficiency.
