Features: This book is a general physics mechanics textbook written for students majoring in university physics. It is suitable for comprehensive science universities and normal universities, and can also be used as a reference book for mechanics teaching in engineering universities. The book is divided into two parts: Classical Mechanics and Special Relativity. The first seven chapters explain the content of classical mechanics, where Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4 cover the kinematics of particles, Newton's laws, and momentum, energy, and the impulse-momentum theorem. Chapter 5 discusses the center of mass and rigid bodies, Chapter 6 introduces fluids, and Chapter 7 focuses on vibrations and waves. Chapter 8 explains the kinematics and particle dynamics of special relativity. The classical mechanics part of the book adopts a traditional approach to showcase the inherent systematic structure of the main body, with particular attention paid to the logical connections between the content in the introduction of the special relativity chapter. Throughout the book, the presentation style is always mindful of the accessibility for first-year university students. Considering the importance of after-class exercises, the book deliberately compiles and selects exercises for each chapter, dividing them into two groups based on difficulty levels (A and B). All solutions are compiled into a separate book titled "Solutions and Explanations for Mechanics Problems," published alongside the textbook as a companion reference for students to consult after solving the exercises.
