Features: The couplet calligraphy works are culturally artistic pieces with Chinese characteristics. They contain the charm of poetry and showcase the beauty of calligraphy, having been deeply loved by the general public. To fully display the new achievements of contemporary calligraphers in the creation of couplet calligraphy, we have spent five years with the spirit of "[Ten years to sharpen a sword]," collecting and compiling this couplet calligraphy collection.
I. The calligraphers invited to participate in this collection are mostly well-known contemporary calligraphers who can be described as "[Exemplary in both virtue and art]." We have taken into account calligraphers from all three age groups: the elderly, middle-aged, and young. There are not only masters and grand masters of contemporary calligraphy, but also middle-aged and emerging talents in the field.
II. This calligraphy collection is organized into five styles: running script, regular script, cursive script, clerical script, and seal script. This arrangement is for the purpose of appreciation and is not strictly a categorization. In running and cursive scripts, works are classified as either running script or cursive script based on the degree of cursive expression. Regular script includes Wei Stele, Tang Dynasty regular script, and Slim Gold script. Cursive script includes Clerical Script, Xiao Cursive, and Wild Cursive. Clerical script includes Qin Clerical Script, Han Bamboo Slips, and Cliffside Inscriptions. Seal script includes Oracle Bone Script, Gold Script, Stone Drum Script, Xiao Seal Script, and Cursive Seal Script. Within the same script style, works are arranged by the number of characters in the couplets.
III. To showcase the multi-dimensional image of contemporary calligraphers and allow readers to gain a more comprehensive understanding of their artistic style, this calligraphy collection highlights the calligraphers' couplet works while also providing brief introductions to their calligraphic skills.
