Features: Sports venues are the of sports events. Every city in the world has its own sports venues, some of which have become local landmarks due to their unique designs. Sports venues not only host various sports events but also serve as places for citizens to relax, exercise, and engage in recreational activities. Sports events of various forms and scales are held every day around the world, and how to organize these events and ensure their safety are concerns for all event organizers. Especially regarding event safety, it has become the primary issue facing the world since the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States. The 1989 British football riot caused 96 deaths; the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics bombing resulted in two deaths and over 100 injuries; the Athens Olympics safety budget breaking historical records, and so on. In daily venue management, minor oversights can also cause operators to suffer immeasurable losses. Currently, our country has an innumerable number of sports venues, and how to organize events and ensure their safety are major challenges we face. Therefore, the timely translation and publication of Sports Venue Event Planning and Risk Management hold significant guiding value.
This book combines case studies to provide a detailed introduction to event planning and management, financing and privatization of sports venues, crowd management and prevention of violent incidents, emergency medical care and evacuation plans, human resource employment and volunteer recruitment, risk management and operational procedures, premises liability, business management, alcohol management, ticketing management, and more. This book is of great reference value for sports administrators, venue operators, faculty and students of relevant sports institutions, and leisure activity organizers.
The translation of this book is the crystallization of collective effort. First, I am deeply honored to be invited by Professor Qin Chunlin of Beijing Sport University to translate this book. In fact, this is not only a sharing of knowledge but also an opportunity for exchange and learning. I would like to thank the Taiwanese doctoral and master's students for their joint translation. I also extend my gratitude to Dr. Li Wei, Zhang Chunping, and Xie Wei of Beijing Sport University for their review, as well as Associate Professors Fu Qian and Chen Song for their later proofreading. Although the translators and proofreaders have made great efforts, there may still be shortcomings in the book. We welcome readers to point out any errors or improvements.
