Features: Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a fundamental measure to prevent environmental problems and an important component of environmental planning. As a legal system for environmental protection, it has been implemented in China for over 20 years, making significant contributions to effectively protecting the environment, maintaining ecological balance, rationally utilizing natural resources, and promoting coordinated development of the economy and the environment. The promulgation of the "Environmental Impact Assessment Law of the People's Republic of China" in October 2002 expanded the scope of EIA and construction projects to include relevant plans, legally perfecting China's EIA system. EIA standards serve as the legal basis for conducting environmental assessments. In recent years, China has made substantial efforts in the field of EIA standards, formulating and publishing many of them. To promote the development of EIA work, we have compiled the current EIA standards of China into this volume, hoping to be of assistance to environmental protection professionals, particularly those engaged in EIA. This compilation collects standards up to July 2004, including 21 standards.
