Features: Mr. Lei Zhenfang is proficient in calligraphy and painting. He served as the manager of Hong Kong Rongbaozhai for several years. After meeting me, we exchanged ideas on art. Mr. Zhenfang had a deep admiration for Huang Binhong's painting and often spoke with great insight. Knowing that I possessed letters from Huang Binhong to his friends during his lifetime, he felt that they might be lost or forgotten in the future and asked me to compile and publish them for reference by those who appreciate Huang Binhong's aesthetic philosophy. This collection includes over 160 pages of letters from Huang Binhong to Huang Jushu and Wu Zhongming in Hong Kong. Due to their age, some parts are missing, but about three-quarters are legible. The remaining letters, though incomplete at the beginning or end, all discuss painting and are included here. Huang Binhong was a highly learned and profound scholar with extensive writings. In his middle years, he compiled a monumental work on art history and served as an editor for Shenzhou Guoguang Society (now Commercial Press). At the age of 73, he appraised tens of thousands of famous paintings from the Southern of the Palace Museum. He traveled extensively across China throughout his life, and once remarked, "The land of China, no mountain is not beautiful, no water is not picturesque." Such grand words could only come from long-term observations through sketching.
