Features: This book is a comprehensive monograph that collects the names of traditional Chinese herbal medicines nationwide. It is currently the most widely published reference work in China with the largest number of medicinal species, covering both ancient and modern names of herbs. It is published in three volumes.
Volume 1 is titled "A Compilation of Synonymous Names for Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicines," which includes over 13,200 entries. Each entry contains eight items: code, Latin name, botanical name, medicinal name, literature name, local name, efficacy, and supplementary notes. The standard names of medicinal herbs are determined based on literature research, field investigations, and pharmacological, serving as a reference for unifying the names of traditional Chinese herbal medicines. The records of literature names reflect the names used in traditional Chinese medicine literature over the centuries and modern research findings. The local names are collected extensively and accurately, facilitating the tracing of the original sources of medicinal herbs from regional names and providing clues for the development and utilization of folk herbal resources.
Volume 2 is titled "A Compilation of Different Medicinal Herbs with the Same Name," which groups herbs with different origins under the same Chinese name and arranges them in alphabetical order by the first character. It concisely and systematically reflects the situation of homonymous herbs across the country, providing readers with a convenient reference for retrieving and studying the complex varieties of traditional Chinese medicine.
The third volume is the index for the entire book. This reference work holds value for researchers, educators, medical professionals, and those involved in the production, supply, and management of medicinal herbs, as well as for those engaged in pharmaceutical identification and related fields in the fields of pharmacology, traditional Chinese medicine, botany, zoology, agriculture, forestry, and mineralogy.
