Features: This book is written in accordance with the "Basic Requirements for Teaching Applied Statistics Courses for Master's Students in Engineering" of the Ministry of Education of China, and incorporates the author's many years of teaching experience. It is designed as a textbook on mathematical statistics for non-mathematics majors, especially for graduate students in engineering. It can also serve as a textbook for undergraduate mathematics majors with fewer hours dedicated to mathematical statistics courses, and can be used for reference by science and technology workers and engineering technicians engaged in practical work. The book is divided into 9 chapters, covering the following topics: basic knowledge of probability theory, fundamental concepts of mathematical statistics, parameter estimation, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, analysis of variance and orthogonal experimental design, stepwise regression analysis, principal component analysis, discriminant analysis, and cluster analysis. The book primarily introduces methods, with content that is concise, clear, and easy to understand. It focuses on explaining the basic concepts, fundamental principles, and computational methods of mathematical statistics. While introducing various basic statistical methods, it also includes some commonly used multivariate statistical analysis methods. Each chapter that introduces statistical methods is followed by a set of exercises, and the answers to these exercises are provided at the end of the book.
