Features: This book is a revised version of the original edition. Compared to traditional textbooks, the following adjustments have been made: (1) Kinematics and statics are not presented as separate chapters. Essential content is integrated into the discussion of dynamics, combining the dynamics of particles and the dynamics of particle systems to reduce repetition with general physics; (2) The Lagrange equations are introduced earlier, treating the Lagrange equations and Newton's equations as complementary methods for solving classical mechanics problems, giving students more opportunities to familiarize themselves with the practical applications of the Lagrange equations. The content of the book is divided into 4 chapters: Chapters 1–2 introduce the basic concepts of Newtonian mechanics and the Lagrange equations, forming the foundational theoretical part of the course; Chapters 3–7 discuss five typical classical mechanics problems: the two-body problem, rigid bodies, non-inertial reference frames, micro-vibrations, and damped motion; Chapter 8 introduces the Hamiltonian theory of classical mechanics, which serves as the theoretical foundation for subsequent courses; Chapters 9–10 cover the applications of the Hamiltonian theory and fluid mechanics, which can be used as supplementary materials or reading resources. This book can be used as a textbook or reference for physics majors in higher education institutions, or as a resource for students in other disciplines and general readers.
