Features: In 2003, Yang Jiang's We Three published by Sanlian Bookstore moved countless readers and sold over 500,000 copies. Sanlian Bookstore has now launched the sequel Our Qian Yuan to We Three, telling the life story of Qian Yuan, the daughter in We Three. It remains to be seen whether it can recreate the bestseller miracle. The book is co-authored by Yang Jiang, Qian Yuan's stepson and stepdaughter, former teachers, students, colleagues, and friends. In We Three, Qian Yuan, known by her childhood name "Yuanyuan," appears infrequently, but a sincere, rigorous in her scholarship, filial, modest, and witty Qian Yuan emerges before the public. However, Yang Jiang's focus is more on the family's love. Because many readers wrote to ask for more information about Qian Yuan, this book was created. It is reported that the book includes numerous photos of Qian Yuan, each accompanied by Yang Jiang's handwritten captions. Yang Jiang even called Qian Yuan her "only masterpiece in life." However, the publication of this book is also largely credited to Qian Yuan's students. She was a professor at Beijing Normal University's English Department, known for her rigorous scholarship and pioneering work in English "stylistics." She cared deeply for her students and was a person of integrity, deeply mourned by many students, colleagues, and friends. Seven years after her passing, her two Hong Kong students returned to Beijing Normal University. One donated one million Hong Kong dollars to establish the "Qian Yuan Education Fund," while the other published a special issue of Hong Kong Literature dedicated to Qian Yuan. Upon hearing the news, Qian Yuan's students and friends wrote articles in her memory, and this book was compiled and published based on those contributions. In addition to supplementing Qian Yuan's life story, the book also clarifies her marital life. Since We Three did not mention Qian Yuan's husband, readers have made many speculations, and some online articles have discussed her marriage, but due to various reasons, they contain many inaccuracies. In Our Qian Yuan, Yang Jiang and Qian Yuan's former husband, Wang Deyi, who were former classmates and close friends, respectively wrote about the beginning and end of Qian Yuan's marriage, allowing readers to see a warm yet sorrowful experience of this family. Additionally, Qian Yuan's stepson and stepdaughter wrote in the book about Qian Yuan's family life with her second husband, Yang Weicheng.
"Since she only wanted to be a pioneer, it can be said that her ambition was fulfilled, and she did not waste her life." — Yang Jiang
"Ideals are always perfect, but compared to reality, they are always unsatisfactory. If they were satisfactory, perhaps there would be no pursuit." — Qian Yuan
"Integrity like her grandfather; love for teaching like her grandfather." — Qian Zhongshu
"Her stylistics textbook is highly scientific and practical, the best of its kind that I have seen. Her unique insights into stylistics reveal her academic attitude. Due to her in-depth research, she was able to challenge authority." — Wu Bing (Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of English, Beijing Foreign Studies University)
