Patient's question:
I used to watch TV sometimes and came across the term "ectopic pregnancy." I actually never quite understood what ectopic pregnancy was.Doctor's answer:
Ectopic pregnancy refers to a condition where the fertilized egg is implanted outside the uterine cavity and grows there. It is also known as "ectopic pregnancy." Tubal pregnancy is the most common type. Inflammation within or around the fallopian tubes often obstructs their patency, hindering the normal transport of the fertilized egg, causing it to remain, implant, and grow in the fallopian tube, leading to miscarriage or rupture of the fallopian tube pregnancy. Examination often reveals signs of intra-abdominal bleeding and a mass near the uterus. Ultrasound examination is helpful for diagnosis. Treatment is primarily surgical, including correcting shock, laparoscopy, and removal of the inflamed fallopian tube. During treatment, it is essential to identify the underlying cause and provide symptomatic treatment accordingly.
