Among them, Chapter 1 briefly elaborates on the evolution of Western economics from Adam Smith to Marshall, analyzing the development, changes, and impact of its basic theories and policy proposals. Chapter 2 focuses on Keynesian economics, in addition to the opposition between Keynesianism and economic liberalism, it also involves the historical fate of Keynesianism and the development of new Keynesianism. Chapter 3, from an objective and fair perspective, provides a relatively comprehensive introduction to the opponents of Keynesianism—the modern classical school. Chapter 4 is a typical application of economics in practice. This chapter discusses the application of economic research methods in the political field; the expansion of economic analytical tools and basic research methods in the collective or non-market decision-making process in the policy field is the public choice theory and its impact. Chapter 5 introduces the influential welfare economics and welfare state theory in the world today. Chapter 6 introduces the emerging new institutional economics. Part II is Chapter 7, Development Economics, which attempts to briefly discuss the theory and historical context of economic development in developing countries. Part III is Chapter 8, Transition Economics, which briefly introduces the economic reform theory and practice of the Soviet Union, Eastern European socialist countries, and Russia.
