I feel his writing has been getting better and better, but such a kind-hearted person only lived to be 76. It seems God was blind. — Yu Guangyuan
Brother Mu Hui collapsed due to overexertion. We truly wish we could see the manuscripts he left behind on his desk before he passed away and hear the voice left behind in them. He is gone, and even for friends like us from afar, he didn’t leave behind a single glimpse of his presence. We cherish his voice, smile, literary style, and personal integrity. I don’t think he would have put down his pen and declared a truce. Down there, there are devils, and devils have their own demons. — Li Rulun
The book is divided into two parts.
Part 1: Reflection on "U-turn," which is the late essayist Mu Hui’s shocking final masterpiece, first publicly compiled and published on the mainland. With detailed evidence, a unique perspective, and mature, sharp writing, it profoundly reflects on the lessons China has learned since Sun Yat-sen proposed the slogan "Follow Russia as a model," as well as the successes and failures of the Soviet Revolution. Reading it leaves one deeply moved.
Part 2: A collection of essays mourning Mu Hui, featuring writings by dozens of prominent figures such as Yu Guangyuan, Shao Yanyang, Lan Yingnian, Zhang Ming, Wang Chunyu, Wang Xue'ai, Yan Leshan, and Zhu Tiezhi. From different angles, these essays reveal the passion and spirit of this truly dedicated intellectual, who poured his heart into his work and cared deeply for the nation, in his final moments. Reading them moves one deeply.
