Features: A History of World Journalism and Communication is published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press. The book is divided into seven parts and twenty-one chapters, totaling 375,000 words. The first part discusses the macro history of world journalism and communication, while the other six parts discuss the historical development and characteristics of journalism and communication in countries across major continents or regions. Then, it selects 14 representative countries from these continents or regions (United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, India, Japan, Egypt, South Africa, Australia) to provide a detailed account and study of their historical development and characteristics in journalism and communication. The book takes the vertical historical development of each country as the main thread, supplemented by horizontal comparisons within the same region. Whether historical and current media mention and discuss certain aspects in detail is determined by their impact in history and reality, rather than by classifying them as bourgeois or proletarian. The material in the book is up to 2000, with four historical photographs at the beginning and 132 references in both Chinese and English at the end.
