Features: I know what writing means to me in my life: it is a relative, lover, and beloved that accompanies my soul. Only it can accompany me through the empty and boring moments of life. At times when my life is bleak to the point of suffocation, only writing, this Virgin, can open her warm womb tenderly to embrace me. Therefore, I will not allow any impure thing to defile it. It can win me reputation, but it will never bring me shame.
A lovesick author, Xiao Manzi, suddenly loses her beloved, while the beautiful Niao'er's "bank" gains a new favorite. A talented woman and a beauty, both carrying broken hearts, drift from Chengdu to Beijing, where they meet a group of women chasing dreams in the capital. In this city where power, fame, money, and beauty converge, they each possess unique skills and employ different methods to compete for life, men, love, and reputation. In the end, their different successes lead to different tragedies.
With extraordinary talent and bold yet realistic stories, author Xiwa vividly portrays the poetic charm of Chengdu, the primitive romance of northern Tibet, and the carefree life of Beijing, creating a unique atmosphere for this novel.
