Features: This book discusses the mathematical work of Hua Luogeng in two parts. The first part is on pure mathematics. We do not provide a comprehensive introduction to his work but focus on some of the main aspects that can be explained using relatively elementary mathematics, followed by major foreign reviews of his work. The second part is on applied mathematics and mathematical popularization. Except for Chapter 6, which is basically similar to the first part in writing, the writing style of the other parts has significant differences. It is well-known that how to view Hua Luogeng's work in this part is controversial. Due to his premature death, some of his ideas did not have the opportunity to be thoroughly explored and developed. Among them, Chapter 8 is the systematic presentation of his economic mathematics, Chapter 7 is an overview of mathematical popularization, and Chapter 9 presents some ideas and attempts by his students in applied mathematics improvement. This part also awaits further research. Additionally, the book includes some appendices, and some articles cover aspects beyond mathematics, which are valuable for a more comprehensive understanding of Hua Luogeng's life.
