Features: This book is a fundamental Chinese character textbook designed for beginners. It aims to help learners recognize and write approximately 1,200 commonly used characters and about 2,200 common words composed of these characters through the analysis of character forms and the explanation of the shapes and meanings of radical characters and frequently used characters. It lays a foundation for further study of Chinese characters and the Chinese language. Based on the principles of character formation, characters composed of radicals belonging to the same semantic category are organized into units, and explanations of radical characters are provided. For characters that cannot fully reflect the original principles of character formation, including simplified characters, they are categorized according to their constituent components. Some characters that do not have original principles of character formation, as well as some that are difficult to classify or cannot be used alone, are categorized according to the other characters in the disyllabic words they participate in. At the end of each unit, there is a section on basic knowledge that briefly explains fundamental theories of Chinese characters, writing rules, etc. The simplified-traditional character comparison section lists the corresponding traditional characters for the simplified characters appearing in the unit.
