Features: The family is the cell of society and the basic unit of people's lives, while marriage is the foundation of the family. If parties involved in marital or family disputes cannot receive timely and proper resolution, the consequences are not only the breakdown of marriage and family but also affect citizens' work and studies, hinder comprehensive human development, and increase social instability. The Marriage Law is not only a law regulating marriage and family but also one that concerns every household, with a wide social coverage. With the progress of Chinese society, the connotation of marriage and family has been extended. To enable citizens to better understand the legislative spirit of the Marriage Law, we have selected nearly 100 cases personally handled by lawyers, covering all aspects of the Supreme People's Court's Interpretation of Several Issues Concerning the Application of the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China. Especially the highly debated and controversial cases such as the "Luzhou mistress case," "Tonghua serial case," "marital compensation case," and "Hu Haiying property dispute case" reflect the unique, unconventional, and novel characteristics of marital and family cases. Some of these cases have long been familiar and discussed by the public, while others remain controversial in the legal community to this day. Based on our own understanding of the law and combining judicial practice, we present our perspectives to the public, aiming to inspire deeper reflection on these social issues and promote legislative work in the field of marriage and family. During the writing process of this book, we made appropriate modifications to certain case facts to meet the needs of "saying law through cases." We hope that by introducing the case details, analyzing different opinions, and examining the outcomes and relevant laws, readers will gain a clearer understanding of the Marriage Law, the Inheritance Law, and other legal frameworks, as well as practical solutions to issues encountered in marital and family cases. If this book can contribute to the harmony and stability of the family as the cell of society and promote social development, that will be our purpose.
