Patient's question:
I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I also feel extremely cold and afraid of coldness. How can I treat vaginal itching?
Doctor's answer:
This symptom is caused by multiple different factors and is often a result of excessive abnormal vaginal discharge due to trichomoniasis or fungal infections leading to vaginitis, which affects the external genital area. If antiseptic solutions are used to clean the external genital area, vagina, or if certain medications (such as sulfonamides, furacilin, strongly alkaline soaps, or potassium permanganate solutions) are inserted into the vagina, it may trigger allergic reactions or recurrent dermatitis in the external genital area, leading to itching. During menstruation, if hygiene is not maintained and the external genital area is not cleaned frequently, menstrual blood or vaginal secretions may accumulate for a long time in the external genital area. Additionally, wearing synthetic underwear can keep the external genital area in a consistently moist and warm environment, often resulting in itching.
