Features: "With the release of Oracle8 and the introduction of object technology in Oracle, PL/SQL has become an even more critical element for successful Oracle-based applications. Steven Feuerstein's outstanding work, Oracle PL/SQL Programming ( Edition), has become the 'bible' for PL/SQL developers worldwide. This second edition is even better! Steven and Bill cover all the new features of PL/SQL8, especially Oracle8 object options, and provide more practical examples. I highly recommend this book." — Ken Jacobs, Vice President of Product Strategy, Oracle Server Technologies
"Steven Feuerstein's book is clearly an excellent technical manual for those of us who are involved in solving real-world problems in our chosen industries. It allows us to start (or continue) using PL/SQL and unleash our creativity. The book provides a valuable resource on specialized technology, programming experience, and in-depth knowledge of PL/SQL nuances. Rich technical content, combined with humorous and insightful writing, makes this book a reference for PL/SQL developers." — Becky Olsen, Information Systems Department, Office Equipment Wholesale
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced PL/SQL developer, this edition has quickly become an indispensable reference for everyone. The book is filled with numerous examples and tips to help everyone who uses PL/SQL (from Oracle Forms developers to database administrators) make the most of this powerful language. By enhancing the potential and complexity of the language, Oracle8 has provided new challenges for PL/SQL programmers. This edition has been updated to reflect Oracle8, adding chapters that describe new PL/SQL object features (object types, collections, object views, and external procedures). The second edition also includes a chapter dedicated to optimizing PL/SQL (a topic frequently consulted). Additionally, there is further discussion on debugging and tracking PL/SQL execution. The accompanying CD-ROM includes a companion utilities guide (Oracle PL/SQL Programming Companion Utilities Guide), an online tool developed by RevealNet, which contains nearly 100 source code files and documents provided by the authors. Even if you've read the edition, you'll find plenty of new and revised information in the second edition and its accompanying CD-ROM. If you're new to PL/SQL, you'll quickly find yourself gradually entering the world of PL/SQL.
