Features: Mr. Hu was skilled in speech and adept at flattery. Although his Mandarin was not standard, his expression was very serious. When speaking about something poignant, he would grit his teeth and articulate each word, making the listeners compelled to believe him. He once told me that he drew inspiration from the preaching style of the Bible. Whether writing or speaking, he believed one must exude absolute confidence to convince others. – Liang Shiqiu
During my time at Cornell, my speaking engagements covered a vast area—east to Boston and west to Columbus, Ohio. For this region, it was quite extensive for a foreign student studying in the United States at the time. To prepare for these speeches, I often had to skip classes. However, I did not mind at all, and this interest has remained with me for over forty years.
