Features: Liang Qichao (1873-1929), styled Zhuoru, styled Ren Gong, also known as Yinbingzi, Aishike, Yinbing Shuren, Ziyouzhai Zhuren, etc., was from Xinhui, Guangdong. A renowned modern Chinese political activist, enlightenment thinker, bourgeois propagandist, educator, historian, and writer. At the age of seventeen, he passed the imperial examination and later joined his teacher Kang Youwei in participating in the Hundred Days' Reform. After its failure, he fled to Japan, where he founded the magazine Xin Xue (New Fiction) and maintained close ties with revolutionary figures such as Sun Yat-sen. Upon returning to China, he organized the Progressive Party to advocate for constitutionalism. After 1920, he withdrew from politics and served as a professor at Tsinghua and Nankai, dedicating himself to writing. Over his lifetime, he completed over twelve million words, covering all fields of social sciences. The Yinbing Shuren Heji (Collected Works of Yinbing Shuren), compiled by Lin Zhijun in 1932, is the most comprehensive collection of his works. For biographical materials, the Longbian Liang Qichao Nianshu (Comprehensive Chronology of Liang Qichao), edited by Ding Wenjiang and Zhao Feng, is the most extensive. Liang was one of the most influential figures in Chinese literature during the late Qing and early Republican periods. Starting from 1899, he promoted literary revolution, which opened up new avenues for modern literary theory and creative writing. Although his own literary achievements were not particularly high, he was a practitioner of his own theories, paving the way for the genuine development of new literature.
