Features: This book is a continuation and supplement to the Dictionary of Chinese Music. It includes modern Chinese music theorists, composers, conductors, singers, music educators, traditional opera music composers, quyi music composers, and music publishers. It also features important modern Chinese music works, writings, and journals; significant music institutions, groups, schools, and music events. Some entries are listed comprehensively, while others are listed individually. Selected entries from Taiwan Province and Hong Kong SAR with available information on music institutions, schools, and music journals are included. It covers entries on modern Chinese music genres, such as film music and children's music. Representative modern quyi and traditional opera works are also included. Supplements to the main entries in the first part of the dictionary are provided, along with additional poems and odes related to music. Entries are arranged in alphabetical order based on the first character of their Chinese pinyin. Entries starting with Latin letters are placed before those starting with the same letter. If a supplementary entry has the same term as an entry already included in the main part but differs in content, the explanation will indicate that another meaning can be found in the main part of the dictionary. When the explanation refers to entries already included in the main part, an asterisk () is placed in the upper left corner of the term. When it refers to entries included in the supplementary part, a double asterisk () is used. Musical examples are written in five-line staff notation. Ranges and simple melodic patterns are represented using grouped note names. Musical works mentioned in the explanations are accompanied by available record numbers and cassette tape numbers. Simplified characters are standardized according to the 1964 national announcement. For convenience in searching, the dictionary includes a categorical index and a stroke index for entries.
