Publish Date: 2005-06-01
Features: This book does not use musical examples or pictures, as there was an agreement with the Central Conservatory of Music Press when accepting the commission: the related audio, audiovisual materials, musical scores, and pictures will be separately edited into electronic teaching materials for everyone's use in teaching. During the writing process of A Comprehensive History of Chinese Music, we tried to embody the idea of "rewriting music history" and reviewed some people and events that were overlooked in the past Chinese music history from the perspective of historical dialectics, making our own judgments and evaluations. For example, we paid attention to the introduction of the music development in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, and to the introduction and re-evaluation of popular music that was once despised and criticized. We hope that this A Comprehensive History of Chinese Music can not only serve as a textbook but also as a reference material for self-study. In terms of knowledge, it can meet the requirements of the entrance examination for non-music majors at music conservatories.
