What to do about bleeding after taking medication for postpartum bacterial vaginosis

Patient's question:

Main symptoms: At 45 days postpartum, I went to the hospital for a check-up and discovered bacterial vaginosis in my vaginal discharge. The doctor prescribed a liquid, ofloxacin vaginal effervescent tablets, and interferon a2b vaginal effervescent capsules to be used simultaneously. After using them for two days, I noticed fresh red blood coming from my vagina. I initially thought it was my period and stopped taking the medication. After stopping, the bleeding stopped as well. Two days later, when I used the medication again, I noticed bleeding again. What could be the reason for this? Is it due to the medication?

Doctor's answer:

There is bleeding after using vaginal medication, and this has happened twice. It may be due to the effect of the medication. You can try switching to many other medications. Stop using these medications.
1. If it is just bacterial vaginosis, using ofloxacin vaginal effervescent tablets is sufficient. There is no need to use interferon a2b vaginal effervescent capsules. You can also try switching to other medications such as clindamycin vaginal tablets or fuyanlin.
2. During treatment, sexual activity is strictly prohibited. Pay attention to sterilizing underwear, towels, and bed sheets with hot water or by exposing them to sunlight. Maintain a light diet and avoid spicy, acidic, or other irritating foods.
