Features: This book employs two methods to analyze this stele:
First, it uses "quantitative analysis" and utilizes rulers and protractors to quantitatively analyze the structure of the characters, identifying many structural patterns and striving to generalize these characteristics.
Second, it adopts the method of using "character grids" to study the structure, strokes, and distribution of radicals in the calligraphy of the Wei Stele.
The carved calligraphy of the Wei Stele, due to its age, suffers from damage and often has unclear character outlines. For the convenience of study, modern scholars have selected and refined the characters from the stele, enlarging and organizing them. The selected model characters are placed in square grids on the page. Beginners in calligraphy often mistakenly think that these grids are writing grids. In reality, this understanding is not entirely accurate. For this purpose, grids were drawn along the periphery of the strokes of the selected model characters, identifying this grid as the character's "grid." Based on this, the structure, stroke techniques, and stroke intentions of the characters are studied, revealing many regular patterns. It is believed that this learning method will be helpful for beginners in writing and will also provide inspiration for those with some foundation in calligraphy.
