Features: International Finance (Second Edition) is a major reform and innovation in the current curriculum and teaching system, developed by the International Finance Teaching Team of Renmin University of China. Based on the two major platforms of Professor Huang Da's "Finance" and Professor Mundell's "International Economics," the book underwent over three years of teaching practice and rigorous deliberation. It systematically introduces the fundamental knowledge and content framework of international finance, focusing on stimulating readers' interest in learning. Adhering to an "applied economics perspective," a "Chinese perspective," and an internationalization-oriented approach, this book is the first comprehensive and logically rigorous international finance textbook in China to integrate both micro and macro perspectives. The book is composed of an introduction and three main parts. The introduction helps readers understand the current trends in international finance research and practice, and establishes the basic content framework of the book.
Part 1: International Financial Markets begins with the basic knowledge of foreign exchange and exchange rates, then discusses the global foreign exchange market, derivative markets, offshore markets, as well as the international asset portfolio investments and banking activities active in these markets.
Part 2: Financial Management of Multinational Corporations systematically covers the foreign exchange risk management, international direct investment, and short-term and long-term asset and liability management of multinational corporations. Multinational corporations are key participants in the international financial market, serving as a crucial link between micro-financial activities and macro policy choices.
Part 3: Theories and Policies of Internal and External Balance focuses on the macroeconomics of open economies, starting with balance of payments and the balance of payments statement. It covers the macroeconomic equilibrium of open economies, macro policy instruments and their effects, exchange rate system choices, international capital flows, and financial crises. The book concludes with the prevention and management of financial crises.
