Patient's question:
How should I treat candidal vulvovaginitis diagnosed at 8 weeks of pregnancy? I've always had this condition, and medication hasn't helped either. I've been experiencing these symptoms for the past few days, and they just won't go away.Doctor's answer:
Within the first 12 weeks of early pregnancy, a 2%-3% soda solution can be used to rinse the external genitalia and vagina with Jieryin, while underwear should be changed daily and washed together with towels and basins. After the 12th week of early pregnancy, after rinsing as described above, gently dry the external genitalia and place a nystatin suppository deep into the vagina, to be used before bedtime each night. In cases of vulvitis, symptomatic ointment or cream can be applied to the external genitalia. A typical course of treatment lasts 10-14 days, followed by a recheck 7 days after stopping medication. A third recheck for mold should be conducted 2 weeks after symptom resolution. Treatment can only be considered complete after full recovery. After the 35th week of early pregnancy, to prevent intrauterine infection, vaginal procedures should not be performed.
