Features: Poetry is a monumental pillar in the long history of Chinese culture and a shining pearl in the treasure trove of classical art. With its rich and profound content and vibrant artistic styles, it deeply reflects the social realities of the Chinese nation over millennia, earning widespread admiration both domestically and internationally. Our initial encounter with our motherland's culture also began with poetry. The annotated collection of poems titled A Thousand Poems is the essence of Tang and Song Dynasty poetry and has long been regarded as an excellent textbook for learning poetry. It was a mandatory book for children to memorize and recite in ancient times. The poems selected in the book cover a wide range of themes—some praise the beauty of mountains and rivers and rural landscapes, others celebrate the heroic spirit of frontier soldiers, some record the hardships and aspirations of ordinary people, others express personal ambitions and indomitable spirits, and still others convey the finest emotions of humanity. These poems act like mirrors, reflecting the social life of the time and illuminating the human soul. Moreover, the language of poetry is harmonious in rhythm, concise in meaning, and rich in emotion. If a person learns to recite classical poetry in childhood, they will not only grow into a more compassionate individual who cares deeply for society and humanity but also broaden their horizons, gain knowledge, develop stronger imagination and intuition, and ultimately achieve more outstanding success. There have been many selections of A Thousand Poems over the years, with the most widely circulated being the one annotated by Xie Fangde of the Southern Song Dynasty, but it is not very suitable for today's young readers. Based on the current situation of children, we have compiled this New A Thousand Poems. To facilitate young readers in learning gradually and thoroughly, the book is arranged according to the content and difficulty level of classical poetry. The selection primarily focuses on Tang and Song Dynasty regulated verse, but also includes works from the Han Dynasty to the modern era, most of which are well-known masterpieces and can serve as an introductory reading for children learning classical literature. The two sections, "Key Phrases Unlocked" and "Gems of Famous Sentences," feature carefully selected excellent phrases and sentences. On one hand, this helps young readers accumulate outstanding expressions and open up creative writing ideas; on the other hand, it broadens their thinking and teaches them how to structure their thoughts. The "Timeless Famous Lines" section selects nouns from each poem to deepen young readers' memory of the classical literary works. The entire book is annotated with Pinyin based on modern Mandarin pronunciation to facilitate recitation. We believe that this New A Thousand Poems will be loved by young readers and that they will benefit greatly from it.
