Features: The purpose of writing this book is to help oncologists in the field of medical oncology understand the development and evolution of systemic chemotherapy for gastric cancer. It aims to enable them to grasp the theoretical foundation and principles of combination drug use in designing gastric cancer chemotherapy regimens using evidence-based medicine, and to apply systemic chemotherapy regimens reasonably to benefit patients. The book evaluates both past and newly introduced regimens, striving to be objective and practical. Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors, with the highest incidence and mortality rates in China (ranked second globally). In recent years, statistics from developed countries and major cities in China have shown a declining trend, but in rural areas, the rates remain stable or even increasing. Esophageal-gastric junction cancer (cardia cancer) has seen no decline worldwide. The clinical diagnosis and treatment still face challenges, including low early detection rates, low surgical resection rates, and the frequent occurrence of postoperative recurrence in advanced patients. Medical oncology chemotherapy has become the main measure of non-surgical comprehensive treatment. Gastric cancer is a difficult challenge for medical oncology chemotherapy because it has natural resistance to commonly used chemotherapeutic drugs. First-line chemotherapy failure often leads to drug resistance and multidrug resistance. Increasing the drug dosage intensity does not necessarily improve efficacy, and using combination therapy does not always yield better results without increasing adverse reactions. Over the past half-century, new drugs have been continuously developed, and numerous chemotherapy regimens have been designed. With clinical validation, old regimens have been gradually phased out, and new regimens have been introduced, improving efficacy, enhancing quality of life, and reducing adverse reactions. However, to this day, there is still no "gold standard" or standardized regimen to follow.
