Features: There are relatively few specialized books on esophageal diseases in China, and it is even rarer to find systematic introductions to rare cases of esophageal diseases. I was deeply benefited by having the opportunity to read the "Atlas of Rare Cases in Esophageal Disease Management" (original and translated versions) compiled by the Japanese Esophageal Disease Research Society. The book provides detailed descriptions of rare esophageal cases, from medical history to clinical examinations, treatments, and pathological findings, accompanied by clear and vivid images. The comprehensiveness and completeness of the collected materials leave a strong impression on readers, filling the gaps often found in general textbooks and professional books. Physicians from various disciplines, especially general thoracic surgeons, will enhance their understanding of esophageal diseases by reading this book. Our hospital's general thoracic surgery department has been engaged in extensive and in-depth academic exchanges with Japan since the early 1980s, which has provided the conditions and capabilities to translate and publish this book domestically. The spirit of introducing advanced foreign experiences to China for the benefit of its people is truly commendable, and the efforts put into this endeavor should be praised and recognized.
