Features: Formerly, I compiled the collection of Dai Mingshi's works. Later, in Professor Shi Zhongyang's "Search for Dai's Clan Genealogy," I came across a of the biography of Master Meng'an, and I also obtained the "Dai Family Ink Roll" from the correspondence of the French sinologist, Caron Djean. I thought of combining it with the "You'an Collection" into one volume, which could fill the previous gaps and name it "Collected Works of Dai Mingshi." Mingxiang and Qiangzong, however, believed that the ink roll, being a manuscript, would play a greater role in promoting the fine culture of our motherland if it were published as a photolithograph. It would not only have academic value but also be an important cultural relic. Moreover, a poem by Dai Mingshi titled "The Filial Son Wang" was included in the collection of Dai Mingshi's works. The proofreaders extensively referred to various existing versions of the "Dai Mingshi Collection" for meticulous collation and reorganized Dai's writings by category, making this the most complete edition of the collection to date.
This book is followed by prefaces and postfaces from various versions of the "Dai Mingshi Collection," biographical materials, the "Ancient Poetic Sword" (transmitted under the name Hefu, Dai Mingshi's courtesy name), and more than a hundred quatrains, as well as the chronological table of Dai's writings and the revised chronology, all of which are highly valuable for understanding Dai Mingshi's life and achievements.
