It gained even greater fame when the modern hero Huo Yuanjia used its techniques to repeatedly defeat foreign martial artists, making Mitzong Quan practitioners renowned both at home and abroad. Mitzong Quan is an ancient martial arts style. Historical records indicate that it originated from Shaolin and was first created by Bodhidharma. Legend has it that Zhou Dong, a master of the Song Dynasty, practiced this art with great skill, and his disciples Lin Chong and Lu Junyi were also highly skilled practitioners of Mitzong Quan. The art was introduced to Qingxian County in Cangzhou during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty. At that time, Sun Tong, a native of Tai'an in Shandong, had spent years practicing in the Shaolin Temple on Mount Song, achieving mastery in Mitzong Quan and being revered as the "Universal Hand." Sun Tong fled to Northeast China due to a criminal charge and passed on the art of Mitzong Quan to the village of Datun in Qingxian County and Xiaonanhe Village in Jinghai County along the way. Afterward, Mitzong Quan spread to Qingxian through two channels, and within Qingxian, it branched into two distinct branches that became widely practiced.
