Features: The textbook used in this book is the People's Education Press's junior high school textbook (experimental revised edition) "Chinese" that was used starting in the fall of 2000. This book sets up five columns for each ancient Chinese and classical poetry and prose in the lesson language: "Small Knowledge," "Learning Focus," "Translation and Interpretation," "Analysis," and "Test Yourself." These columns help readers learn and self-assess. Each volume includes three sets of comprehensive self-assessment questions at the end. "Test Yourself" and "Comprehensive Self-Assessment Questions" both include reference answers. "Small Knowledge" introduces background and literary knowledge related to the lessons; "Learning Focus" points out the main knowledge points to be mastered in each piece; "Translation and Interpretation" provides word-by-word explanations and sentence-by-sentence translations of the text; "Analysis" offers concise guidance on the content, themes, and writing style of the text; "Test Yourself" and "Comprehensive Self-Assessment Questions" allow readers to check their learning progress, with questions that are closely tied to the text while also extending appropriately. In the "Translation and Interpretation" section, translations are presented in a top-bottom format, with the ancient Chinese text at the top and the translation below, separated by a horizontal line. Annotations follow each word in the original text in parentheses to distinguish them. Single-character words are directly annotated in parentheses without a word heading, while two-character or longer compound words are first marked with a word heading in parentheses before the annotation. Terms whose meanings, sentence patterns, character deeds, or allusions are difficult to explain in parentheses are supplemented with footnotes on the same page. Omissions of sentence components are common in ancient Chinese texts. In this book, omitted parts in prose are marked with parentheses to indicate the omission without specifying the component being omitted to avoid excessive detail. Poems are not marked because they are already highly condensed and, with many omissions that are impractical to indicate one by one. New Chinese textbooks have intentionally reduced and diluted grammar knowledge, focusing on ability development, so this book generally does not provide detailed grammatical analysis. Each lesson is appropriately accompanied by relevant images of the author's handwriting, portraits, and book covers for readers to appreciate.
