Features: Helen Keller was a world-famous American blind and deaf writer, educator, and humanitarian. She was born on June 27, 1880, in the town of Tuscumbia in northern Alabama, USA. At just over a year old, young Helen showed exceptional intellectual talent. When she was 19 months old, scarlet fever took away her sight and hearing. However, she did not surrender to fate. With the help of her teacher, Miss Sullivan, Helen overcame the imaginable difficulties that ordinary people could face, learned to speak, "listen" with her fingers, and mastered five languages. At the age of 24, she graduated from the renowned Radcliffe College for Women at Harvard University with outstanding academic performance. Later, she dedicated herself to educating the blind and advocating for the welfare of disabled people. She wrote numerous works, such as The Story of My Life, which expressed her indomitable will and relentless spirit of self-improvement, resonating strongly in society. During World War II, Helen delivered anti-war speeches across various regions. After the war, she traveled to different countries to raise funds for war victims and promote blind welfare causes. In 1959, a grand ceremony was held at the United Nations Headquarters to honor Helen Keller, praising her contributions to humanity and her selfless love, and establishing the "Helen Keller International Award." In 1964, she was awarded the "Presidential Freedom Medal." On June 1, 1968, just days before her 88th birthday, she passed away. Throughout her 87 years of life without light, sound, or speech, Helen Keller's courageous and self-reliant spirit shook the world and earned her reverence worldwide.
