This book is designed and written specifically for English learners from non-English-speaking countries. It is highly practical and targeted. The intended readers are English learners with beginner-level proficiency and secretarial workers. During the compilation process, to maintain the original writing style of the book, the overall content and format of the original book were largely preserved. However, to align with the reading habits and learning characteristics of domestic readers, some content that did not fit the Chinese context was appropriately added, deleted, or modified. Key content in the texts, headings, and exercise titles were translated, and vocabulary notes were added. The book is divided into 10 units, each including key points, dialogues, a vocabulary list, and exercises. The main body of each unit consists of real-life situational dialogues and a variety of exercises designed based on the dialogue content. Each unit is self-contained yet interconnected. The appendix contains two sections: One is a set of letter examples closely tied to the content of the last unit, and the second is abbreviations.
This book has two major features:
Feature 1: Close integration of language knowledge and professional content. The entire book is designed around the actual work of secretaries. Through detailed and specific content introductions, real-life situational dialogues, and diverse exercises, readers not only gain a practical understanding of the basic qualities and requirements of secretarial work but also learn appropriate English knowledge.
Feature 2: Each unit in the text is accompanied by a variety of exercises, helping readers further master and reinforce the knowledge learned earlier while encouraging them to share their own opinions and perspectives with others. Therefore, this book is suitable for classroom teaching organized by teachers as well as for self-study.
