The selection of examples not only ensures accuracy in representing the word's meaning and usage but also includes one of the earliest and one of the latest instances found in the corpus to help readers understand the word's approximate period of popularity. Each example sentence is marked with □. If a sentence ends without punctuation, it indicates that the sentence is a title of an article.
6. Source: The source of each example sentence is noted and marked in parentheses after the sentence.
