Publish Date: 2003-12-01
Features: In the past decade or so, there have been many new developments in tourism both domestically and internationally, as well as in tourism academic research. In response to these changes, under the active organization and support of Nankai University Press, the author decided to revise the book again to reflect these developments. However, just like in the past, the purpose of this revision remains unchanged—to provide a tourism introductory textbook for faculty and students of tourism majors in higher education institutions in China, which emphasizes alignment with international tourism academic standards while also reflecting the national context of China's tourism development and research; to offer a basic theoretical reading material for tourism professionals; and to serve as a fundamental reference book for personnel in government departments at various levels engaged in economic and social development planning, enabling them to understand the basics of tourism development and the tourism industry. The principles emphasized in this revision work include: combining an overview of objective phenomena with theoretical elaboration, focusing on the revelation and understanding of tourism principles; integrating theory and practice, highlighting the practical significance of knowledge and theory in tourism operations and management; paying attention to comparison and alignment with international tourism academic research; ensuring ease of reading and use for both teachers and students; and adjusting the logical flow of the entire book's content.
