Features: The implementation of quality education not only requires us to change our educational concepts but also necessitates reforms in current textbooks and various teaching aids. Reducing students' academic workload does not mean eliminating homework or exercises. Practice has proven that timely and appropriate training and assessments are crucial elements in improving teaching quality. English proficiency is not only reflected in the mastery of English language knowledge but more importantly in the flexible application of English, which includes the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as the ability to use language orally. Currently, the development of language teaching and testing theories internationally has entered a new phase, giving rise to a set of new language teaching theories. This theoretical framework can be summarized into three fundamental points: (1) The sum of parts does not equal the whole; (2) Language knowledge does not equate to language use; (3) The purpose of language teaching should be the cultivation of language application skills, not merely the mastery of language knowledge. This new teaching theory is increasingly aligning with the requirements of English quality education and is gradually being adopted by the English teaching community in China. It is heartening to note that, under the unified guidance of the Ministry of Education, a new English curriculum standard has been formulated and is now being piloted. This Standard proposes the concept of "language application skills" in the form of a "framework" and sets clear requirements for students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities. Given the new dynamics in secondary school English teaching and assessment reforms, to support classroom teaching aligned with the new textbooks and help students systematically master the new curriculum standards, we have compiled this series of English One Lesson, Three Drills books. The series is synchronized with the textbooks, serving as both teaching and learning companions. It strives to adhere to the framework without being rigidly bound by it; emphasizes question design while appropriately reducing pure grammar exercises (and lowering the difficulty of grammar questions), increasing skill-based and application-oriented exercises to reflect the new textbooks' characteristics of combining "living questions, structure, and communicative functions." Grounded in the textbooks, it reinforces foundational knowledge, focuses on context, strengthens text awareness, and highlights skill development. This series adopts the format of "one lesson, three drills," balancing foundation, emphasizing communication, positioning texts, and emphasizing application. In the process of consolidating knowledge and improving skills, it embodies a "precision" that ensures training and assessments are more closely aligned with the curriculum standards and textbooks, more closely connected with teaching and learning realities, and more closely integrated with the actual reforms of teaching. Therefore, this series is not only scientific and systematic but also highly targeted and practical.
