Features: Color is highly sensitive in human vision. It is not only often referred to as visual language in painting but also plays an extremely important role in modern design as a key compositional element. Different colors can evoke different emotions in people. Different eras and individuals have varying aesthetic responses to color. Observing color can trigger a range of feelings and associations. Due to the unique emotional connotations of different colors and the relationships between their three primary elements, the combination and pairing of colors are inherently complex. Different color schemes must be used depending on the application and context. As everyone knows, colors never exist in isolation. However, how they are paired is entirely dependent on personal cultural and artistic cultivation, intuition, experience, and imagination, with no fixed rules.
To provide some inspiration for design creation, we have specially invited experienced color instructors from the Academy of Art & Design, Tsinghua University, and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology to compile this series of color combination application books covering six distinct design disciplines: graphic design, fashion design, packaging design, exhibition design, web design, and environmental art. Each author in the series strives to use successful design works as examples, succinctly explaining the general principles of color pairing in their respective design fields, aiming to offer readers valuable references and insights.
Color is one of the essential components of fashion design, holding significant importance in visual perception. This book distills and combines the colors of the design works featured here to enhance readers' understanding of garment color, enabling them to realize their design ideas more freely. Additionally, the selection range used in this book was provided by students from the Fashion Department of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, including Zhang Bo and Qin Yue, to whom we express our heartfelt gratitude.
