The selection emphasizes the diversity and comparability of both ideological content and artistic style, with the primary goal of sparking collisions, inspiring reflections, and fostering interest in works from different eras and styles across the world, thereby motivating students' autonomous learning. To enhance interaction, the textbook includes a number of thought-provoking questions after each piece and a series of discussion topics after each unit, providing teachers with a selection of topics for classroom discussions, presentations, debates, or writing exercises.
