How should ovarian cysts be treated for the best effect?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. If I have an ovarian cyst, what treatment methods are most effective?

Doctor's answer:

Ovarian cysts can be physiological (meaning they are normal fluctuations in the menstrual cycle and can naturally disappear) or pathological (formed due to disease). Physiological cysts do not require surgery, while pathological cysts often need surgery for definitive diagnosis and other solutions. For women of childbearing age, after discovering an ovarian cyst, the next course of action depends on the nature of the cyst. Ultrasound results are very helpful for diagnosis. If MRI indicates that the cyst is anechoic (without echoes) and non-segmented, it may be possible to wait and see for 3 months. After 3 months, a repeat MRI should be performed. If the cyst still fits the description, surgery should be considered. For all other types of cysts, in most cases, they are pathological and surgery is necessary for definitive diagnosis.
