Features: This book compiles over 1,600 types of encyclopedic works, which can be broadly categorized into two types: general comprehensive encyclopedic works that extract and compile various documents, classic texts, and reference materials, and specialized encyclopedic works that focus on specific content. These encyclopedic works cover encyclopedic content of ancient Chinese literature and classics. The materials collected in this book span from the Han and Wei dynasties to the present, primarily based on domestic library collections. The principle of collection is that all ancient books listed in the "Bibliography of Classics," "Bibliographical Examination of Classics," book catalogs, dictionaries, historical books, and other reference books as encyclopedic works are included one by one; for encyclopedic compendia that extract and organize the literature and classic texts of many ancient scholars according to the style of encyclopedic works, even though they were not previously classified as encyclopedic works, some are selectively included. For all the included encyclopedic entries, efforts are made to examine the original works, provide brief introductions, and indicate the sources of the materials, so that readers can understand and study the historical background of the emergence and development of Chinese encyclopedic works, as well as their profound influence and role in the development of society, politics, economy, military, and culture.
