Compared to the original book, the content of this edition includes: (1) the incorporation and reflection of a large amount of new data and progress in astrophysics from the 1990s; (2) a reduction in the complexity of theoretical derivations; (3) an enhancement of content on extragalactic systems and active galactic nuclei; (4) newly written content on cosmology, which highlights and reinforces fundamental concepts; and (5) the inclusion of numerous exercises. The primary target audience for this book is: undergraduate and graduate students in physics and astronomy departments of universities, as well as researchers in physics and astronomy fields.
