As a poem goes: Some treat history as soft clay to be molded at will in a workshop; Some see history as a fitting and ever-changing robe; Some regard history as swords, armor, and fortresses; And some view history as a game of numbers that can be positive or negative. Is history really like that? No! History is spiritual, dignified, and has a soul. History is a person, and a person is history. History is both a wise teacher and a helpful friend to humans. Despite the recent playful and colorful reinterpretations of history, we remain deeply attached to the authentic and vivid past. Here, we proudly present the "100 Treasures of Chinese History and Culture in the Past Century" series. Leveraging the unique resource advantages of the renowned brand of historical and cultural materials, this series strives to explore the "first-hand experiences, observations, and hearsay" of historical figures, revealing the behind-the-scenes stories of major, lesser-known historical events through vivid primary sources. It introduces the legendary experiences and interesting anecdotes of historical figures, blending history and individuals into one. From the unique perspectives of friends, foes, and neutral parties, it compiles the myriad aspects of the world, interprets the vicissitudes of human life, and records the journey from the closed-off, backward, and war-torn old China to the bright new China. This is a unique and innovative series of book collections that offers an insightful understanding of China's history over the past century.
