Features: Humanity has marched with an unrelenting pace to the year 2005. Time flies, yet the past remains vivid. Sixty years ago today, humanity faced a global catastrophe—the world's evil forces launched an unjust war, bringing the people of the world immense suffering, bloodshed, and brutality; while the just resistance of the world's democratic forces filled it with heroism, resilience, and tragedy, ultimately achieving a decisive victory and advancing the progress of human history. Therefore, it can be said that this period of history is one where tragedy and achievement, pain and magnificence, disaster and ideals coexist, a history where justice triumphed over evil. To this day, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, as the wind of neo-fascism and the resurgence of militarism in some countries today grows stronger, every peace-loving person should never forget this history! China was one of the earliest and longest-lasting participants in World War II, and the Chinese theater was an integral and indispensable part of the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the main battlefield for the East Asian resistance against fascist aggression and subjugation. Over the long years of war, the Chinese nation bore the greatest responsibility and made significant contributions to the victory in the anti-fascist war, paying a heavy price in the process. During the eight-year War of Resistance, the Chinese theater consumed 4.55 million Japanese military forces, accounting for 70% of Japan's total losses. Notably, the enemy rear battlefields opened by the People's Liberation Army and the New Fourth Army under the leadership of the Communist Party of China restrained, fought, and destroyed large numbers of Japanese and puppet forces, playing a pivotal role in the War of Resistance against Japan. We must never forget this contribution! This book was compiled after years of effort and is the result of collective labor. It collects and selects over 660 photographs, many of which are highly valuable and have never been published domestically before. They truthfully and vividly document this period of history.
